The Rolex Submariner was first introduced to the public in 1954 and was specifically designed for diving. Over the last 70 years, the Rolex Submariner line has remained completely dedicated to practicality, performance and innovation.
The model features highly corrosion-resistant materials, a uni-directional bezel, powerful lumes and a glide lock clasp. The first Rolex Submariner was crafted entirely of stainless steel and was complete with a black dial and bezel. Later, Rolex introduced a date feature, precious metals and more colourful options to the submariner.
The Rolex Submariner is designed and manufactured by Rolex for Diving; this was the first wristwatch to withstand water pressure of over 100m. Production started in 1953 and Rolex introduced the Submariner to the public at Basel World in 1954. Since its release, the Rolex Submariner has become one of the most popular watches. This may be due to its sporty yet professional aesthetic and overall versatility. To learn more about the Rolex Submariner click here to view our blog.
