The Rolex Daytona pays homage to speed. It was inspired by motorsport and designed to meet the needs of racing drivers by measuring elapsed time and calculating average speed. In 1955 Rolex released their first chronograph and started to team up with popular race drivers like Sir Malcolm Campbell, who then went on to achieve the world speed record whilst wearing a Daytona.
The Rolex Daytona has continued to partner with famous race drivers such as Paul Newman and the watch has become a holy grail piece for many collectors and demand keeps on growing.
