The Rolex Datejust was first introduced in 1945 to celebrate Rolex's 40th anniversary. It was the first watch to feature a perpetual movement and a date feature, which is quite impressive for 1945. The first Datejust was exclusively crafted of yellow gold, featured a standard 36mm case size and was the first watch fitted with a 5-link jubilee bracelet.
The first Datejust was fitted with the jubilee bracelet and a fluted bezel, a design still being sold today by Rolex. Over the years Rolex has continued to innovate and they now offer the Datejust in a variety of sizes as well as offering it with a range of different features including dials, bracelets and bezels.
